Get to know our physiotherapist Ida!

Ida has been part of the Rehaboteket team since January 2024 and has quickly become an invaluable resource for our clients. With a broad background in both neurological rehabilitation and musculoskeletal disorders, she has a deep understanding of how the body works and how it can recover from injuries. In this blog post you will get to know Ida better, both as a physiotherapist and as a person.

Tell us about yourself and your background?

I am a licensed physiotherapist by training and have worked in inpatient care with neurological rehabilitation but also in primary care and with joint and muscle-related problems.

What made you want to train as a physiotherapist?

I have been involved in sports all my life and over the years have suffered from various overuse injuries that I have had to rehabilitate. That is how I came into contact with physiotherapy. I have always been interested in the human body, but it was never the nursing or medical profession that attracted me. What I like about physiotherapy is that the focus is on active treatments and training – things that the patient can do themselves and that often require minimal material resources. The body is incredibly adaptable. If you put it under stress, it responds by becoming stronger and more resilient, and you are constantly pushing the limits of what you can do.

How can your advice and expertise help our clients?

My most important task at Rehaboteket is to help you as a customer find a product that suits you, based on your illness or injury background and your needs. My driving force as a physiotherapist has always been to help people return to as active a life as possible, based on their individual circumstances.

What is the best thing about working at Rehaboteket?

The best thing about my job is when a customer comes back and tells me how a product has helped them in their everyday lives and changed their lives for the better. That feeling beats most!

What does it mean to receive product advice from a licensed physiotherapist compared to other advice?

As a physiotherapist, I have better knowledge of various musculoskeletal disorders and medical conditions than a salesperson without a medical background. Sometimes the customer has not had time to see a medical professional or receive a diagnosis. In that case, based on my professional background and what the customer tells me about their problems, I can usually give advice on a suitable product that can relieve the discomfort. It also happens that I advise a customer against a purchase if there is a risk that the product could do more harm than good.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I am a dedicated long-distance runner and love to run! I also enjoy reading and traveling, and I like to combine my travels with a running race. In my opinion, the best way to discover a new city is to take a morning jog through it.
